I'd like to introduce the 3 main characters of my new chapter book, The Case of the Abandoned Sea Otters (Magic Seashell Mysteries #1)!
First is our narrator, Riley, a shy third-grader who loves to draw animals and can always be seen carrying her favorite nature journal just in case she sees something to inspire her art. She hesitantly becomes the lead detective in the mystery with the vital role of recording all the clues found as drawings in her notebook, as she struggles with her self-confidence.
Sophie is Riley's older sister, a fourth-grader who seems to be much more organized than her peers. Her high standards for herself allows her to be a high achiever in school, and she puts her planning skills to the test to set the girls up for success in solving the mystery.
Gemma is Riley and Sophie's next door neighbor and Sophie's classmate, who is bursting with energy that fuels her practice as a gymnast. She is the most outgoing of the group and loves to have conversations with anyone who will listen, which proves useful in interviewing suspects.
Bonus fact: The girls are named after my dogs! It makes them extra special to me.
